Do Naomi and Liam Reunite on 90210?

Source: E! Online
August 29, 2009
90210, Matt Lanter, AnnaLynne McCordWhen 90210 returns this fall, get ready for a bright new look and a lot more sex and scandal. The show is getting back to the California high-life roots that made the original series so beloved, and the hot new couple on the scene is Naomi Clark (AnnaLynne McCord) and Liam Court (Matt Lanter). Or should we say noncouple, because while those two are way hot for each other, they have a looong way to go before they get their happy ending.
We just caught up with Matt at the Nylon magazine TV issue party, and he filled us in on the young couple's season-two struggles: As Lanter tells us, "Naomi and I have some obstacles to get through." In particular, there's the whole problem where Naomi thinks Liam and Annie slept together, but actually Liam was tricked into sleeping with Naomi's evil (evil!) sister, Jen Clark, and the lies are driving Naomi nutty. As Lanter tells us, "Naomi is not gonna find out [the truth] right away. That's the problem right now. We keep asking the writers when it's gonna happen, when we're gonna get back together, but right now in season two we're seven episodes into it, and we're having a hard time finding each other." Still, there's hope. Lanter says that he and AnnaLynne are rooting for their characters: "We want it to happen. Liam is trying to find a way to basically tell Naomi what happened, but he's trying to be sensitive because it's her sister." And that's not all. Amalia Zinser is joining the cast as Ivy, a tomboy surfer girl who becomes a new love interest for Liam (and Dixon). Lanter promises, "There are going to be some fun stories to tell [about that relationship]"—in part because Ivy joins 90210's boys' club. See, in the grand tradition of surfer boy Dylan McKay, the gang from West Bev takes to the waves. Lanter says, "The guys are really starting to form a bond this season over surfing. One thing they all do now is the surf team. And there's a new hangout at Liam's house, so we get to see them bond a lot more and become a good group of friends. Liam becomes a lot more integrated with the group and the rest of the kids." Yay!

TREVOR DONOVAN from 90210 Exclusive Interview
Source: daemonstv.com

Trevor Donovan
I recently got the opportunity to interview TREVOR DONOVAN, whom some of you might know from his time on Days of Our Lives as Jeremy Horton, about his recurring role as Teddy Montgomery in season 2 of 90210. Trevor Donovan not only teased that Teddy and Adrianna had a past together, but that there might be a potentially new love triangle in the new season of 90210. Enjoy the interview below and remember that season 2 of 90210 premieres on September 8 on The CW.

Congratulations on getting onto '90210'. I bet that's really exciting. Trevor Donovan: Thank you so much. Yeah, it is. I'm on cloud nine for sure.

Can you talk about your character Teddy Montgomery and what he'll be doing on the show?
Trevor Donovan: I sure can. Teddy is a new kid at West Beverly High. He's been on the East coast at a private school and whatnot. He's the quintessential all American golden boy. He's the son of a two time Oscar winning actor. Obviously, he comes from a very rich family but isn't pretentious at all. He doesn't have that potential rich kid attitude. He's very nice, very welcoming. He's more mature beyond his years because he grew up in an adult environment, grew up around the entertainment industry with his father being an actor and all of that. So he comes into school and there's a little tension and a little drama created by his presence on the scene. So we'll see.

Will he be a love interest to any of the main characters, something that you can tease us about for the season?
Trevor Donovan: Yeah, most definitely. Adrianna and Teddy do have a little past, a little history from a few years back. So there are some feelings being brought back and a potential love triangle. A lot of the other girls in the high school also seem to find something endearing about him as well. So there will definitely be plenty of sexual tension and definitely some drama going on. So it should be interesting.

Are you going to be a regular guest star for the season? How many episodes can we expect to see you in? Trevor Donovan: That I don't know. It's all up in the air. I'm kind of kept in the dark. I just show up everyday to work and do my job to the best of my ability and just have a great time with it. We'll see how the fans receive me. The network seems to be happy. I'm happy. So everything seems to be going in the right direction. I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.

How many episodes have you shot so far?
Trevor Donovan: I have completed six. Not too shabby. We're starting seven here pretty soon.

Can you talk about the experience on the set, was it hard coming in as the new guy after a whole season where the cast had been together?
Trevor Donovan: Well, as you can imagine, coming into a set that's an ensemble cast like that who have been working together for the past year can be a little intimidating, a little nerve racking but everyone was so welcoming and it was good. Everyone has been very welcoming. I was a little nervous. I hadn't worked in a while and I actually took a little time off from acting for some family stuff and now I'm back in and I'm having a great time and the transition has been super smooth.

Had you seen the first season of '90210', or did you go back and watch it as research to prepare for the role? Trevor Donovan: Well, the majority of what I've seen of the first season is towards the tail end and the reason being is that everything seemed to be tightening up towards the end of the last season. The writing was just great, great reviews. It's led itself into the second season very, very well. Great cliffhangers, especially the last episode and it's only getting better. The scripts are very, very well done.

Who's your favorite character on the show? Trevor Donovan: Favorite character. I have to be honest, I really like mine as far as playing stuff.

Apart from yours?
Trevor Donovan: Adrianna's character, she's gone through so much and has had so many different layers and levels and different things that she's gone through. I think hers is very, very interesting.

I know you have a movie coming out. Can you talk about your character in 'The Surrogates'?
Trevor Donovan: I think so. It was interesting. We shot the whole film during my sort of break from acting and I wasn't really going out much. I went to do a re-shoot for one very, very pivotal scene and they'd shot it one way and decided that they wanted to change it and decided to recast for it. So I ended up getting hired in the matter of a day's time to do this re-shoot which was a scene with Bruce Willis and stuff. I can't give away too much of the storyline but it was a great experience and working with director Jonathan Mostow was a pleasure and just a great guy and a great director. I'm really looking forward to seeing the final result. It's coming out September 25th and it's exciting. September seems to be a fun month for me.

In addition to these two projects, anything else coming out in the future? Trevor Donovan: I've just got my nose to the grindstone, head down and I'm working on '90210'. It's a full time job right now and that's all I've really had time for and to be honest with you that's fine by me. I'm having such a great time. I just love being able to focus and be working. I'm so fortunate and grateful for being able to work. It's a very volatile industry and I've just been very, very fortunate to be a working actor right now.

What originally drew you to acting? Trevor Donovan: That is a long story. As a kid I loved TV and I loved movies. I was painfully shy and never even considered it, to be honest and my time in L.A. has introduced me to a lot of situations and people in acting classes and things that really drew me into the industry itself and the craft and I've just fallen in love with it, just in the past four years.

Is there an actor that you'd love to work with that you haven't had a chance to work with yet? Trevor Donovan: Well, I'll tell you one thing, I am getting a chance to work with John Schneider who was one of the original 'Duke' brothers, Bo Duke on 'Dukes of Hazzard'. He's one of the characters on '90210' this season and so that's really exciting for me. There are so many actors out there that I'd love to work with that I wouldn't even know where to begin.

Is there another show that you'd love to guest star on if you had the opportunity?
Trevor Donovan: That's an interesting question. I don't really know how to answer that because there are so many good shows out. Well, I can see a potential crossover for my character visiting 'Melrose Place' or something, seeing as it is on the same network, guest starring on another program on The CW would be interesting even if it was the same character. That would be really cool.

'90210' brings back fictional California University

AnnaLynne McCord as Naomi Clark on 90210The new “90210” will continue to follow down the path of the original “Beverly Hills, 90210” this season with the return of California University (CU).The fictional college is where original characters Kelly Taylor (Jennie Garth), Brandon Walsh (Jason Priestley), Donna Martin (Tori Spelling) and gang headed after graduating West Beverly Hills High School. In the new “90210,” the main characters are still in high school, but a new college hottie will cross paths with Naomi Clark (AnnaLynne McCord; pictured, right).Actor Travis Van Winkle will portray Jamie, a football player and frat boy at CU, in the upcoming season, according to Korbi Ghosh on Zap2It.com. Van Winkle has had roles in the movies “Transformers” and the recent “Friday the 13th,” and starred in Julianne Hough’s music video for “That Song.” He should fit right in on “90210,” as he has guest starred on numerous teen dramas such as “Veronica Mars” and “Greek.”Some other nostalgic places of the original show that have returned to the new series include the obvious high school, but also the Peach Pit, which was completely renovated, but still had Nat (Joe E. Tata) dishing out mega-burgers, and the Beverly Hills Beach Club, which will make its debut in the upcoming season. It is not yet known how much of CU will be shown, but it is likely Naomi will hit a few college parties as she isn’t one to stay at home and hit the books.

Dear CW: Please Stop It With the Remakes

Source: TV.com
8/6/09

As if 90210 and Melrose Place weren't enough, The CW has announced plans to update more old TV shows for new audiences. We say: Enough already!
From the Ominous Quotes Department... Dawn Ostroff, president of the CW, presented at the Television Critics Association press tour yesterday and issued the following chilling statement about the future of remakes of old shows on her network: "There are other shows we're looking at, but we can't talk about it yet." Yikes! Other than the impending mystery remakes, she was referring to the returning 90210 redux -- a turgid and cynical affair -- and the upcoming Melrose Place regurgitation that will be torturing us come fall. And there will be more! Remake upon remake upon remake, because they have preloaded marketability and they don't require much creative heavy lifting. While The CW has tried some original programming -- fare set in places as diverse as South Africa (Life is Wild) and the demon-stalked back roads of America (Supernatural) -- they've mostly made their brand name with pre-tested cultural properties like the Gossip Girl books and, now, lukewarm rehashes of old 90s-retro TV shows. And if ain't all that broke, why not keep piling similar programming on top of it until the whole thing collapses under its own terrific weight?? The root of the problem is that the people in charge of remaking these shows often can't quite figure out what tone to set. 90210 started off as an annoyingly zippy, iPod-shuffled slap in the face to fans of the original certified classic. Since that didn't really work -- no one talked much about the boring, trendy plots or the show's tabloid-ready stars like Shenae Grimes and Whatshisface McGee -- they've now taken the show in a completely new, equally ridiculous direction. There's arson and pregnancy and other manic things! What the CW overlooked in their mad dash to make new Nine-Oh hip and soundtrack heavy at all costs was that we liked the original's ham-handed moralizing and issue-of-the-day preaching. While Donna, Dylan, and the gang may have been guilty of some egregious sins (those flat-tops! those leggings!), they at least never pandered to or commodified their audience. The new 90210 is all product and very little substance, and no amount of winky Hannah Zuckerman-Vasquez references or Brenda cameos can cover that up. The same can be said, nearly sight unseen, about the upcoming Melrose reboot. What with its silly, tawdry posters and Ashlee Simpson casting and all. It sounds crazy to say about a Darren Star show, but the original Melrose seemed awfully organic compared to this focus-grouped mishmash of hardbodies and too-soon 90s nostalgia. This is all to say that Ms. Ostroff's quote makes us really worried and more than a little annoyed. What other barely-buried relics might they be looking to dig up for lazy chunks of profit? Some single camera, dreadfully snarky Saved By the Bell zombie? A sexed-up revisit to the melancholy Pittsburgh of the masterful My So-Called Life? We shudder at the thought. What do you think? Are you into the idea of dredging up old ghosts? Or does it seem as fruitless to you as it does to us?

AnnaLynne McCord dishes on her wishes for '90210'

AnnaLynne McCord as Naomi Clark on 90210
“90210” star AnnaLynne McCord has a few wishes for her character in the upcoming season of the CW drama.McCord (pictured, right), who plays Naomi Clark, would love to have her two sisters, Angel and Rachel, guest star on “90210” as friends of Naomi, according to Eonline’s Marc Malkin."I'm really pushing for it," McCord said in the interview. "I really would love to have my sisters on because they really are my best friends in the whole world. It would be really cool if they could come and be Naomi's two new friends."McCord has also spoken out about wanting to meet President Barack Obama in person to discuss her advocacy work, but she also wouldn’t mind if her character was able to meet the President on the show.“Naomi goes to the White House to meet the president would be an awesome storyline. Of course, Naomi would be going with some personal ulterior motive that has nothing to do with helping anybody,” McCord told Eonline.Another wish the “90210” starlet is not giving up on is a crossover episode with “Gossip Girl.” She wants actor Ed Westwick’s bad-boy character, Chuck Bass, to show up in Naomi’s zip code."I still want that to happen," McCord told Eonline. "I think if I keep speaking about it, it will happen."Another hook-up McCord has wished for her character is with confirmed guest star Rumer Willis, who will play a lesbian in the upcoming season of "90210.""This is what I foresee," McCord told Eonline. "Naomi gets drunk, and she gets a little crazy. Liam's watching. Naomi wants to experiment. And then a little lip-on-lip action with Rumer Willis can't hurt anybody, right?"How fabulous would that be," McCord continued in the report. "They totally need to make it happen!"As for what will happen to Naomi’s character in the upcoming season, her feud with Annie Wilson (Shenae Grimes) will continue. According to various reports, Annie will be alienated from the rest of the main cast this season as she works out issues surrounding her alleged fatal hit-and-run. And Naomi’s sister, Jen Clark (Sara Foster), is expected to stick around this season, which should mean more lies and drama are headed Naomi’s way. Also, Naomi will enjoy some time at the beach, wearing a few bikinis, as the return of the Beverly Hills Beach Club (known from the original series, “Beverly Hills, 90210”)is expectedlead to some heated scenes. The girls of "90210" have been spotted around Los Angeles filming scenes at the beach and a pool party.
